Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), formerly known as Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO), is a Malaysian institution of higher learning. Its origins date back to 1993 when it was first established as the Polytechnic Staff Training Centre. Due to its significant contributions in producing qualified polytechnic lecturers, and the government’s strong confidence in its capabilities, the centre was officially granted university status in 2000.
The university’s role extends beyond meeting the demand for academic lecturers and teaching instructors in institutions such as polytechnics, community colleges, and technical schools under the Technical Education Department of the Ministry of Education Malaysia. It also serves public and private technical institutions and training centres across the country.
UTHM’s primary aim is to produce graduates who can meet the growing demand for highly qualified professionals and technocrats in the fields of engineering and technology. The university offers postgraduate, bachelor’s, and diploma-level programs in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, as well as in Technical and Vocational Education, with specializations in 34 different areas.
UTHM envisions becoming a global technical university in sustainable technology and transportation. Its mission is to provide technical solutions for industry and the community, grounded in the tauhidic paradigm.
